EXPERT KNOWLEDGE & UNDERSTANDING

What is Chronic Pain?

Chronic pain is defined as any pain in the human body that lasts longer than three months. Regular pain is a normal sensation that signals us of possible injury, but with chronic pain the persistent pain signals to our brain can remain active for months if not years later. Common side effects of chronic pain can be PTSD, anxiety, depression, frustration and lack of concentration.

Staff of Highly Trained Toronto Pain Specialist Doctors

We have an excellent team of highly trained pain specialists, from various educational and training backgrounds that allows us to see patients with pain from head to toe and use the latest, evidence-based treatments.

As an added benefit, we have an in-house pharmacy with a pharmacist that has specialized knowledge in pain medicine and is an excellent resource for patients who have questions regarding their medications.

We Treat Pain From Head to Toe

Pain is a multidimensional experience that involves an interaction of sensory, cognitive, and affective factors that make its treatment difficult to navigate. From cognitive behavioral therapy to cutting edge procedures, our multidisciplinary practice looks at the big picture of your pain to ensure you’re taken care of from every angle.

Pain Management Resources

Mindfulness and Meditation

Mindfulness and meditation techniques are helpful tools used to relive chronic pain by helping you focus your mind and body in the moment and gain control over your thoughts and judgement.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a form of talk therapy often used in tandem with other treatments to provide relief by helping to change your relationship with pain, improve your coping strategies and contextualize discomfort.

Psychotherapy & Psychology

Pain isn’t just a physical sensation. It can have impacts on your biological, emotional and psychological wellbeing as well. Our psychologists will collaborate with your other health care providers to address both the physical and emotional aspects of your pain.
